Spirit Halloween Puts the "Fun" in "Funding"
Spirit of Children brings fun and funding to local hospitals at Halloween and all year round by providing monetary donations, Halloween costumes, accessories, decorations, and so much more. Our mission is to make hospitals less scary for kids and their families through support of the Child Life department at partner hospitals in our local communities. Since 2007, Spirit of Children has raised over $110 million to provide Child Life funding for art, music, aquatic and pet therapy programs as well as the purchase of educational items and toys used for distraction during medical procedures, and much more. 100% of every dollar donated supports the Child Life Department in our 154 partner hospitals across the United States and Canada.

Spirit of Children brings fun and funding to local hospitals at Halloween and all year round through monetary donations to support Child Life and by providing costumes, accessories, decorations, and most everything needed for a Halloween party including volunteers from local Spirit stores.
Our mission is to make hospitals less scary for kids and their families through support of the Child Life department at partner hospitals in our local communities. Since 2007 Spirit of Children has raised over $110 million to provide funding for art, music, aquatic and pet therapy programs as well as supporting Child Life salaries. Funding has also helped partner hospitals purchase sensory and educational items, toys used for distraction during medical procedures, and much more. 100% of every dollar donated supports the Child Life department in our 154 partner hospitals across the United States and Canada and supports Child Life departments at hospitals in local communities.
In October 2022, local Spirit store volunteers participated in in-person Halloween celebrations at almost 60 of our partner hospitals, following strict protocols to keep everyone safe. Each of our 154 partner hospitals received “Spirit of Children Halloween Celebration Packages” filled with assorted costumes, accessories, activity coloring books, crayons and treat bags. These kits enabling Child Life teams to facilitate the various Halloween celebrations held by our partner hospitals, whether in-person or “reverse trick-or-treating” by delivering costumes and goodies individually to patient rooms.
Funds raised by Spirit of Children would not be possible without the outpouring of support from local communities and vendor partners. Customers ring the iconic purple cowbell when they donate to Spirit of Children at checkout. Donors are encouraged to post a photo or video of themselves ringing the cowbell loudly and proudly using #MoreCowbell and #SpiritofChildren to encourage others to participate and bring smiles to children’s lives.
